2012 Freshwater Land Trust Continental Pheasant Shoot

FRESHWATER LAND TRUST
Continental Pheasant Tower Shoot
Thursday, February 16, 2012
Friday, February 17, 2012

Does a crisp winter day of outdoor sport with colleagues and friends at a destination location sound appealing? If so, join Freshwater Land Trust and Westervelt Ecological Services at Westervelt Lodge in Aliceville, Alabama, for a continental pheasant shoot on either February 16 or 17, 2012.

Proceeds from this event will go directly to Freshwater Land Trust's local land conservation efforts. By acquiring and caring for lands to enhance water quality and preserve open space, the non-profit organization has protected - or helped to protect - over 10,000 acres throughout greater Birmingham and central Alabama since its inception in 1997. The Land Trust ensures everyone benefits from its conservation efforts: landowners, communities, and businesses alike.

Continental pheasant shoots are modeled after European driven-style pheasant shoots, with barrelmelting action. Hunters are stationed in 10 blinds surrounding a hidden tower. Three hundred birds are flighted as single or doubles through the shooters, and blinds are rotated every 15 shots. Trained Labrador Retrievers collect every downed bird.

This event will consist of two 20-gun shoots: one morning session and one afternoon. Refreshments are provided during the shoot, and Westervelt Lodge's famous fried chicken lunch will be served between the morning and afternoon sessions.

Participation is limited to 40 shooters. Early registration is recommended. Registration is $400 and includes participation in one 300-bird shoot, refreshments, lunch, door prizes, and cleaned and packaged birds to take home for the grill.

Morning Shoot 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Lunch (both hunts) 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Afternoon Shoot 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
